Mares Shopping Centre

Customer Background

The Mares (translation means “tides”) Mall opened in November 2011.  It includes a mix of Mozambican traders, local banks and stores with well-known South African brands (i.e. Shoprite, Woolworths, Truworths, Uzzi, Foschini, @Home, Clicks, etc.), a bowling alley, an entertainment court and restaurants looking out across panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.

Waste Water Challenge

Firstly there is no waterborne sewage available.  Secondly, the Mall is situated on a Mangrove area, which is tidal.  The aim is not to allow the sewage to go into tidal estorie.

Sewage Treatment Solution

The 100-cube WWT plant was designed and installed after the successful negotiation by BioMoz, an agent of Bio Sewage Systems.  The effluent is used for dust suppression, a certain portion is held for fire fighting and rest is used to irrigate.
